About The Mudcastle

Hand-built using clay from the property, The Mudcastle is nestled in picturesque Neudorf valley, 45 minutes’ drive from Nelson city and short drives from the region’s iconic wineries, NZ’s oldest pub, Mapua Wharf, rivers, lakes, mountains and the golden sands of Kaiteriteri beach.

There are 3 suites with ensuite bathrooms with large, deep baths and separate showers. The castle also has 5 bedrooms all sharing 3 additional bathrooms comprising 3 toilets, 2 showers and 1 bath. Other facilities include a comfortable lounge area, library and complimentary Wi-Fi.

The Mudcastle was hand-built by the owners over many years using locally sourced materials. The owner lives on-site in separate quarters. They will personally greet you on arrival and are available if assistance is required during your stay. All bookings at The Mudcastle are exclusive so your group will be the only guests staying.

The Mudcastle's liquor licence does not allow self-catering accommodation guests to hold functions or events involving catering for and serving alcohol to additional invited guests. Self-catering accommodation guests may BYO and cater for themselves only for the duration of their stay.
