About Mairenui Rural Retreat
Mairenui has been in the Sweet Family for over 100 years. There are 2 self-contained houses, the Retreat, built in the 1970s, and the Villa, built in 1895. We also offer 2 in-house en suite rooms, and meals are available at the Homestead.
The Villa sleeps up to 10 (3 double, 2 twin) and features spacious grounds and views down the valley.
The Retreat is a 3 1/2 storey architectural flight of fancy, set amongst 700-year-old native trees and featuring a circular lounge, spiral staircase and a steep-pitched, concrete-sheathed roof. The Retreat sleeps up to 6, with two doubles and a twin - for the adventurous, the twin is located in the very top and is accessed by ladder.
