About River Valley Lodge

The whole reason for the existence of River Valley Lodge are the adventure activities that can be found in this area of the northern Rangitikei, a district in the central North Island.

With some of the best white water rafting in the country, plus horse treks over the areas spectacular hill country, there is little reason for anyone staying at River Valley Lodge to be bored.

For families and younger adventurers we recommend our awesome scenic rafting trip - a full day on a beautiful section of the river.

River Valley Lodge is an adventure lodge. It does not fit within the normal accommodation categories. The Lodge has a range of accommodation, from backpacker style bunkrooms to secluded premium ensuited guest rooms. A recognition that adventurers come in all ages and within all budgets.

The Lodge has both self catering facilities in the guest kitchen, as well as a cafe/restaurant serving freshly made meals, often with organic produce from the Lodge gardens. A licensed Bar is a favourite spot to relive the days adventures.

The Lodge grounds are a mixture of lawns and gardens with a great summer time swimming hole in the river.

The Lodge is situated 32km east of Taihape, and is positioned right beside the Rangitikei River, a river protected by a Water Conservation Order, akin to National Park status. People are often blown away by the beauty of the scenery on the drive in.

The Lodge may also be reached via the Napier - Taihape Road from Hawkes Bay.
