At high tide fish can be seen jumping and terns diving. At low tide, herons and other wading birds. In the distance, a few mangrove trees nestle beside a stream, beyond that a small woodland largely undisturbed. So as dusk falls, the calls of native birds can clearly be heard.

Here you will find large supermarkets, butchers, banks. Also the historical sites of Rewa’s Village and the Stone Store. From Okiato the whole of Northland can be easily reached.
