Directions: Drive north of Greytown on SH 2 for about 3 kms and turn left on Matarawa Road, (at the sign for Waiohine Gorge). Among the Totara Trees is 5.81 kms down that road, on the right.
The homestay has a guest room with an attached bathroom. Children can stay in a multipurpose room on 2 sleeping platforms and a floor mattress if desired. A bassinet for a very young child is also available. A second couple can book the master bedroom upstairs, with an ensuite, and additional single adults can use the sleeping platforms, if there are no children. One of the delights is an outdoor bathtub and outdoor shower. There are outdoor tables and chairs on decks on both sides of the house. Expansive gardens. A woodfired pizza oven is available for guests to use if desired, as well as the kitchen. Breakfast with the host is provided. A rustic cabin in the olive grove can also be booked.
The homestay has lots of toys and out door play equipment for children, including bicyles and scooters. Plenty of space for outside activities. Adult bicyles are also available. Close by are Greytown with its boutique shops and eateries and Martinborough with vineyards and restaurants. The Waiohine Gorge with walking tracks and a swing bridge is less than 30 minutes away, and the coast, either Castlepoint and Palliser Bay, with lighthouses and other attractions, is within an hour's drive. Pukaha, National Wildlife Centre, about 45 minutes drive, is a real joy for young and old.
