Two renowned trout fishing rivers are on the farmDescription: The farmstay is a 4 bedroom fully equipped, self-contained cottage with king, queen, and king single beds, bathroom, laundry, kitchen, lounge and dining rooms. Everything is supplied - linen, crockery, clean towels daily.

Three bedrooms and a bathroom are also available in the main residence, a modern, brick home. There is also a Jacuzzi for your private use.

On The Farm: Two renowned trout fishing rivers are on the farm. The New Zealand trout fishing team is selected on this farm and numerous fishing competitions are held here. Year round fishing - just a few minutes walk from the farmstay - is excellent, with a limit of 5 fish per day. A licence is required. An experienced guide is available if requested. Top of the line fishing rods can be hired at very reasonable cost.

It is an excellent place to use as your base - sightsee during the day and relax and fish later.

It is a working dairy farm with 225 cows on 75 hectares of attractive, rolling country.

Location: [map here] 5 kms south of Tirau on State Highway 5, the Rotorua Road, opposite the museum and honey shop.
Prices: Farmstay cottage $150 (for 2) per night, $25 for each extra person. Breakfast provisions supplied (bacon, eggs etc). Accommodation in main residence is $130 (for 2) per night, $100 single person. Continental breakfast provided.

Mountview Farmstay and Horse StudDescription: We are a working sheep and cattle farm, and also home of New Zealands largest and oldest Appaloosa Horse Stud.

Enjoy our home, our company, and relax. Or help with feeding calves, lambs and other animals during the season.

We currently have accommodation for

  • Queen bed with ensuite
  • Queen bed with share bathroom
  • Twin beds with share bathroom

The house has 360 degree views and looks at Mt. Pirongia, and on a clear day can see the mountains in the Tongariro National Park.

On The Farm: We have sheep, cattle and 10 horses in our Appaloosa Horse Stud, including 2 stallions.
