On The Farm: Two renowned trout fishing rivers are on the farm. The New Zealand trout fishing team is selected on this farm and numerous fishing competitions are held here. Year round fishing - just a few minutes walk from the farmstay - is excellent, with a limit of 5 fish per day. A licence is required. An experienced guide is available if requested. Top of the line fishing rods can be hired at very reasonable cost.
It is an excellent place to use as your base - sightsee during the day and relax and fish later.
It is a working dairy farm with 225 cows on 75 hectares of attractive, rolling country. Belmont Farm Description: Belmont Farmstay is located just 2km North of Tirau on the main State Highway 1.
The Farmstay is a lovely sunny, modern, tidy cedar cottage with two bedrooms (Queen, double & single beds) bathroom, laundry, kitchen, large lounge/dining area.
Two bedrooms also occasionally available for homestay in the main residence which is a new modern brick home.
Belmont Farm is 206 acres of flat and rolling pasture land on which we graze beef and sheep plus we run an Arab Horse Stud - we have 2 purebred stallions including `Ngapa Joussif` sire of many Elite National & International Endurance Champions, also `Ranaarb` an impressive athletic chesnut horse imported from Australia. We have several purebred mares and youngstock and there are often foals to see.
The farm has a lovely tranquil atmosphere, perfect for a relaxing getaway. We are located very close to 2 Golf Courses, Lake Karapiro and walking tracks, also less than an hour from Tauranga, Rotorua, Taupo, Hamilton. Enjoy looking around "Trendy Tirau" with lots of interest to see (antique and craft shops or maybe visit the Toy Museum at the `Castle Pamela`).
