Explore the station by horseback or 4-wheel drive, various options are available. Alternatively, join the mustering team and help gather the sheep or cattle in the backcountry tussock grasslands; a unique high country farming experience.

Brentleigh Homestead, GoreDescription: Brentleigh is a farmstay/fishing retreat on the banks of the Mataura River famous for its brown trout fishing.

Hosts Mary and Brian farm 290 hectares of crop, sheep, deer and cattle. A farm tour is included in the tariff.

Our guest accommodation consists of two new large rooms with ensuites separate from the main house and one room in the homestead. We have a large relaxing country garden with over 1000 peonies which flower in November - December.

Brentleigh is ideally situated in Northern Southland with 10 excellent fishing rivers within 30 minutes.

On The Farm: 290 hectares of crop, sheep, deer and cattle.

Hillcrest Farmstay near Lumsden and Gore, SouthlandDescription: Welcome to our 650 acre sheep and deer farm. Relax in our garden, enjoy a farm tour with mountain views or a game of tennis.

Trout fish the Mataura, Oreti or Waikaia rivers. Fishing guide can be arranged on request. Enjoy a relaxing dinner with fine food, wine and conversation. Breakfast is served with fresh baked bread, home-made yoghart, muesli, jams and preserves.

Interests include handcrafts, tennis, photography and fishing. We have three children attending boarding school/tertiary education.

Relax and enjoy our warm comfortable homeDescription: Enjoy this beautiful 10 acre hobby farm, only 5 minutes drive from Invercargill. You can interact with sheep, lambs, horses and prime hens yet still access city or suburban restaurants, shopping malls and entertainments. It`s simply the best of all worlds for your New Zealand holiday or weekend get-away.

The accommodation features two delightful Queen size bedrooms and one twin bedroom. Rooms have either an ensuite bathroom or separate private bathroom. There is a private guest area with television, fridge, tea and coffee making facilities.

We are 5 minutes drive from Invercargill along State Highway 1. Sign at Kennington corner.

On The Farm: Get friendly with the farm`s 50 "Border Leister Romney cross" sheep, horses, lambs and hens. If you would like to visit a deer farm, dairy or larger sheep property it can be easily arranged. Would you like to learn how to milk a cow? Sure! (but try to give us a little advance notice so you won`t be disappointed)
