We are centrally located for day tripping the South Island. Aoraki/Mount Cook and Lake’s Tekapo, Pukaki, Opuha and Heron are popular day trips. In winter (May-Sept) eight ski fields are within an hours drive (including Mount Hutt, Dobson, Fox Peak and Roundhill), Ice Skating at Tekapo (1hr) and the Alpine spa makes a nice day trip. .

Meanderine Farm / Park Stay Description: Welcome to Meanderine farm stay accommodation which is 30 minutes from Christchurch International Airport; the gateway to the South Island. We are still operating after the recent Earthquakes, with no damage sustained at all.
Meanderine Farm / Park stay offers a unique opportunity to experience a life with many friendly and interesting animals including 4 sheep, 3 ponies, 4 horses, 8 donkeys, 3 poodles, 2 labradors & 3 labradoodles (1st generation), 6 cats, many ducks & geese, many varieties of birds, 9 turkeys, 1 guinea fowl, 4 rabbits, 10 cattle + 5 baby dairy calves, a large variety of wild & rare birds and our pig. Our farm is a delight for both children and adults to stay and enjoy.
We are currently working on a couple of projects like; growing a large edible herb and vegetable garden which is based on organic principles and which we will harvest for meals, planting an orchard so we can eat our own fruit and preserve the surplus for the winter season, raising dairy calves with the intention of having them as friendly dairy cows which we will hand milk to produce our own dairy products, raising rabbits & 3 litters of puppies due to be born early April 2011.

Activities for the guests include collecting eggs, feeding the animals, use of our bikes for bike riding, use of golf clubs for some on-farm practice or to take to the Rangiora golf club, 3-piece gymnasium, learn handicrafts like crocheting, sewing & flax weaving, target shooting (additional cost), star gazing, horse, pony and donkey riding (additional cost for all riding) & getting involved in our farm projects.
Guests can stay in our two storey European-style country home or in our private garden cottage with en-suite, both overlooking the property, our duck pond and with a magnificent view towards Mt Gray.
Our farm only runs on green energy, which is produced by solar panels which collect energy from the sun which then charges the batteries for use in our house, water is heated by a solar water heating system located on the roof, and our wood burner provides central heating which also heats the hot water in Winter. The energy & heating system is highly efficient and is capable of producing as much energy as is needed for a conventional house.
The farm offers guests a colourful display of flora each season. The garden highlights of each season include hot pokers & beautiful roses in Summer, red toadstools & red oak leaves in Autumn, and daffodils, cherry blossom & fragrant yellow flowers of the wattle trees that line our long & winding driveway in Spring.

- A private garden cottage with a queen-size double bed, a set of bunks, seating, en-suite and coffee & tea making facilities.
- In the house we have 3 rooms; 1 with a queen bed, 1 with a double bed with single bunk above, and 1 single bedroom. All with shared guest bathroom & compost toilet.
Guests will have the use of the kitchen, lounge, dining and sunroom. Laundry facility and access to the Internet are available.
Wouter & Marina both live & work on the farm and are renowned for providing great home-cooked meals for guests. We specialise in traditional and contemporary New Zealand cuisine using vegetables and herbs from our own property and produce from the local area.
The many friendly animals and lovely views make this an ideal retreat for a relaxed holiday away from home. For many children, the stay on our farm has been the highlight of their holiday. While guests are here, you are treated as one of our family. On The Farm: Meanderine specialises in breeding donkeys, and 1st and 2nd generation labradoodles (dogs) although we also breed a wide variety of other animals including cattle, sheep, ducks, geese, doves, pigeons and about 12 different varieties of rare breed chickens.
