River Birches is 30 minutes from the Tongariro National Park, where you can select from a range of exciting activities, from the Tongariro Alpine Crossing, to winter skiing on Mt Ruapehu. Nearby activities include trout fishing, riverside and bush walks, golf, whitewater rafting, mountain biking and thermal pools. Complimentary Wi-Fi throughout the property.

We can arrange private fishing and hiking guides & a masseuse. Dinner is available for Lodge guests by prior arrangement.

We also offer The Cottage at River Birches, a cedar clad, architecturally designed three bedroom property which blends harmoniously with the unique riverside environment of the Tongariro River. Conceived with families and smaller groups in mind, those who value the privacy and spaciousness of a home with the facilities to fully cater for their own needs for the duration of their stay, should they so desire.
