Dargaville is a small rural town sitting on the north western bank of the Northern Wairoa river with a history all its own. Some of this can be seen at the local Maritime Museum where you can also get a wonderful view of the town, river and surrounding countryside. There are an assortment of cafes and restaurants but Kate will happily cook a traditional evening meal upon request. This usually leads on to a few hours of lively conversation.
Kaurivale offers quality accommodation in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere - just 15 minutes North of Dargaville. We are about 3 hrs. North of Auckland International Airport - and Kaurivale has proved to be an excellent first stop for visitors wanting to unwind or alternatively a last one before heading home. We are within easy reach of the world renowned Kauri Museum at Matakohe, and the Waipoua Kauri Forest. Kaurivale is an excellent base for trips to Whangarei, local beaches, the Pouto Peninsula and fun filled relaxation at the Kai Iwi Lakes.
Kate and Steve are always available with local knowledge. Steve enjoys telling people of his lifelong farming experiences and of cutting up Kauri Logs pulled out of Northland swamps in the 1980's.
We also operate a beef and dairy grazing farm a few kilometres along the Babylon Coast Road. Some visitors enjoy taking the opportunity to take a look around this and also enjoy some of wonderful scenery that you will not see from the main highway.
Bookings essential please.
