Adrenalin Forest

High wire - High excitement - High AdrenalinDescription: Test your limits - Conquer your fear
Adrenalin Forest is best described as a multi level aerial obstacle course. Participants negotiate a series of rope bridges, Tarzan swings and flying foxes from platforms constructed in the tree canopy. Adrenalin Forest is a great confidence builder and adrenalin rush.
The adventure park features an aerial obstacle course up to 17 meters off the ground, 5 pathways of progressive difficulty, more than 1.5 km in length and covering three hectares of forest.

Participants attached by an overhead safety wire safely negotiate a series of 80 challenging activities high up in the tree canopy on five pathways of increasing difficulty.

The park is suitable for all ages from 1.30 meter tall, and no experience is necessary.
Full instruction is given, you are completely safe and fully harnessed at all times.

Alpine Recreation

Description: The Ball Pass Trek is a challenging alpine crossing of the Mount Cook Range from the Tasman Glacier to the Hooker Valley. The route allows close views of New Zealand`s highest mountains and most spectacular alpine scenery.

Ball Pass is for experienced hikers, used to sustained walking over steep and rugged terrain. Groups (maximum 8) are accompanied by qualified mountain guides, who give crampon and ice-axe instruction, and rope you up if necessary. Two nights are spent at Caroline Hut, directly opposite the Caroline Face of Mount Cook.

This is a great introduction to New Zealand`s most impressive mountains, but does not require you to have mountaineering experience.

Our other treks include the Aoraki Mt. Cook Trek and the Tekapo High Country Trek.

The Aoraki Mt. Cook Trek is a 2-day shorter version of the Ball Pass Crossing, but participants do not cross the pass.

The Tekapo High Country Trek is a 3-day alpine hike through open tussock country in the Two Thumb Range, above Lake Tekapo, with panoramic views of New Zealand`s Southern Alps and the Mackenzie Basin. This area is famed for its exceptionally clear skies and intense light, highlighting the turquoise-blue glacial lakes, golden grasses, and white snow-capped peaks.

Location: [map here] Aoraki-Mount Cook. Start from Lake Tekapo.

Aoraki Balloon Safaris

Aoraki Balloon Safaris on the Central Canterbury PlainsDescription: "Aoraki", a Maori word meaning Cloud Piercer".

Aoraki Balloon Safaris have operated since 1992, with their main base at Methven (by Mt Hutt) on the Central Canterbury Plains. Long recognised by the industry as "New Zealand`s finest ballooning location". They are the principle leader in the NZ Tourism Industry for innovation and excellent record in Hot Air Ballooning Adventures.

Methven is well inland and away from restrictions of flying over or near to Christchurch City, (with Airport and seacoast nearby). It offers a full 300km panorama of the entire Canterbury Province, from well north of Christchurch City to south of Timaru. Pristine views are obtained of Mt Cook and the National Park Mountains. For this reason we have many TV companies from around the world frequently filming our unique venture. The inland Methven location allows balloon flights in all 360 degrees of air movement.

Aoraki Balloon Safaris at Methven has a proud 100% safety record they intend to keep. All equipment and pilots are regularly checked by the NZ CAA and comply with all their regulations. They have 5 Aerostar Balloons including a new large one arriving in the New Year.

The Guinness Book of Records have acknowledged that "the oldest known person in the world to fly in a Hot Air Balloon" at 102 years 3 months (Florence Laine) was flown by Aoraki Balloon Safaris, Methven, the third centenarian to have flown with them. The NZ Army Band fly with them a week before Christmas every each playing Christmas Carols over a selected Canterbury town. Many weddings and numerous proposals happen aboard the balloon basket.

Most balloon flights commence at daybreak. This is normally the gentlest and the coolest part of the day. Normal balloon flight experiences are up to four hours, of which about one hour is the actual flight. At the flight conclusion the passengers celebrate with a "buffet champagne style breakfast" as a picnic in the farmers field. A Flight Certificate, Information Sheet and In Flight Photos are offered at the conclusion of the venture. Aoraki Balloon Safaris at Methven welcome Non Flying Ground Passengers, for anyone who does not wish to fly. Gift Vouchers are also available and a popular choice for those special people and special occasions in your life.

Aoraki Balloons Safaris based at Methven have safely flown several thousand passengers and now look forward to flying you, your family and friends as well. They are known for offering more than a Balloon Flight!
